Add a track
Drag an audio file into Sonic or pick one from your device. The file stays in your browser while it is processed.
Convert audio files and lift quiet tracks right in your browser. No account, no upload queue, no waiting on a server.

Choose fileDrag an audio file into Sonic or pick one from your device. The file stays in your browser while it is processed.
Select MP3 or WAV, pick a bitrate for MP3, and optionally raise the loudness or fine-tune the volume.
Sonic encodes the finished file locally and gives you a direct download, with no remote conversion queue.
Audio formats trade off compatibility, file size and how much of the original signal is preserved. Sonic exports to MP3 for wide compatibility and to WAV for uncompressed PCM audio, while many common formats can be used as input depending on what your browser can decode.
Use MP3 when you need a smaller file that plays on many devices and services. The bitrate lets you balance file size against encoded quality.
WAV suits editing, production or archiving when you want uncompressed PCM output. Files are much larger than compressed formats.
FLAC is a lossless source that works well when you want to decode a high-quality recording before exporting it to MP3 or WAV.
Modern recordings often arrive as AAC, OGG or M4A. Whether they open depends on your browser and operating system.
Some recordings stay quiet even when your device is already at 100%. Sonic can raise the signal level while respecting a peak ceiling, which helps with voices, lectures, demos and tracks exported too low.
Analyzes the decoded signal and picks a cautious gain based on the headroom available at the peaks, instead of blindly applying a fixed multiplier.
Gain is limited by a −1 dBFS ceiling to avoid the simple digital clipping that happens when samples exceed the maximum range.
Choose +3, +6, +9 or +12 dB for a predictable amount of gain, and combine it with the fine volume control.
Useful when a large PCM recording needs to become a smaller file that is easy to share. Choose 256 or 320 kbps to keep more encoded detail.
Turn a lossless music library into compact MP3 copies for devices, messaging or any case where space matters more than lossless delivery.
Creates an uncompressed WAV file from the decoded MP3 stream. It does not restore information that MP3 encoding already removed.
Use Smart Enhance or a small manual gain when a track is hard to hear at normal volume. Moderate amplification is usually better than an aggressive boost.
Sonic is built around decoding and encoding in the browser. The file you select is loaded into local memory, processed there and turned into a downloadable file on your device.
Local processing is useful for meetings, classes, interviews, private voice notes or any recording you would rather not send to a third-party conversion service.
There is no remote conversion job waiting for a server to be free. Speed depends mainly on your browser, your device and the length of the recording.
Local processing uses the memory and CPU your browser has available. Very large files need far more resources than a short recording.
Sonic can use any audio format your current browser can decode, including common MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG and M4A files. The current output formats are MP3 and WAV.
The conversion runs in your browser. Sonic reads, decodes, processes and encodes the selected file locally instead of sending it to a conversion server.
No. Smart Enhance currently uses signal level analysis and peak protection. It should not be presented as standards-based LUFS normalization.
No. Boosting changes gain; it does not repair clipping, background noise or microphone distortion. A poor source file can still be noisy after it is made louder.
No. WAV is uncompressed, but converting an already compressed MP3 to WAV does not bring back the detail the MP3 encoder removed. It mainly changes the output format.
Yes. Sonic is a free, browser-native audio tool within the RuntimeHub ecosystem, with no account needed for the basic conversion workflow.
